Why is there a warning on the Playing & Learning Face Paint packaging that states to avoid red near the eyes and green and blue near the mouth?

All face paint products with dyes sold in the USA must carry these warnings. Faber-Castell uses only FDA approved color dyes. There are products sold by other manufacturers in the US market that do not conform to the FDA guidelines and should be used with caution.  The tear ducts around the eye, particularly the eyelid is more sensitive to red dyes than other areas of the skin.  The skin around the mouth and lips are more sensitive to the blue and green dyes.  Individuals with heightened sensitivity may have a reaction in these areas.
