Watercolor Letters to Santa
A watercolor tutorial by artist Mou Saha to rekindle a fun childhood ritual. Write a letter to Santa Claus using Faber-Castell Watercolors in Pans. Make one for yourself and as many as you want for your loved ones to write their letters in style!
On a 9x6 inches watercolor paper, lightly sketch a rectangle leaving about half an inch all around using Grip 2001 graphite pencil. Sketch some airmail style pattern around the rectangle and a stamp on the top right corner.
Color the stripes with Scarlet Red 118 watercolor paint.
Color the rectangle in the center with Cobalt Green 156, May Green 170 and Chrome Oxide Green Fiery 276.
Paint a string bow on the rectangle with Burnt Umber 280. Tuck in a sprig of greenery with Burnt Umber and Scarlet Red.
Add a few leaves to the sprig with Chrome Oxide Green Fiery 276.
Paint the stamp. Write ‘Santa Claus, North Pole’ with Permanent Carmine 126. Paint some dots all round with Metallic Gold.
Turn the rectangle postcard over and write your letter to Santa.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial and have a great time rekindling the childhood ritual of writing a letter to Santa Claus with Pan Watercolors or your favorite Faber-Castell pen!
