Faber-Castell’s own forests in Prata, south-east Brazil, capture 900,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2). This was confirmed by TÜV Rheinland® in 2012. The 10,000 hectares of forests therefore not only secure our sustainable wood needs, but also help decrease the burden on the atmosphere through photosynthesis, in whichCO2is converted into biomass. This means that the pine trees and the natural forests in Prata, neutralise the climate- relevant carbon footprint of Faber-Castell production sites around the world. One third of the forests remain natural and have become a habitat for rare plant and animal species. In addition to conserving resources, respect for the environment also plays a key role for Faber-Castell.
We contribute to climate protection through the annual calculation and management of our carbon footprint from all production sites. The emissions are neutralized through the sequestration of carbon in our forests in Brazil.
All production sites in the Faber-Castell Group are certified according to the international norms to ensure that the quality and environmental protection standards are met.
The CO2 emissions caused by the manufacturing process of this product are neutralized by certified projects.
