CO2 Neutrality
In the fight against climate change, reducing emissions by saving energy is an important measure in the industry.
Corporate carbon footprint

The total quantity of emitted greenhouse gases for the Faber-Castell Group according to scope 1, 2 and 3 amounted to 35,876 t CO2equivalents for the business year 2013/14. In the previous year (2012/13), the total was 32,868 t CO2. The increase in emissions was due to the increased demand for the products on an international level and the associated increase in wood-cased pencil production.
CO2 reservoir Brazil

We are making a positive contribution to climate protection with the forests planted in Brazil over three decades ago. The pine trees and the approximately one third of the forests that are left untouched remove CO2 from the atmosphere as they grow and bind the carbon. A scientific study carried out by TÜV Rheinland® in 2012 confirmed that the Faber-Castell forests in Prata are helping to reduce greenhouse gases with over 900,000 t CO2 equivalents. They therefore bind significantly more CO2 than the company emits annually on a global level.
In the field of geoscience, the term CO2 reservoir refers to a reservoir, which absorbs carbon either intermittently or permanently and stores it in the biomass, thereby helping to combat global warming.
